There are currently over 10000 bears trapped in cages on bear bile farms across Asia. These beautiful creatures are physically mutilated, their bile drained through painful catheters for use in traditional medicine. Our 10000bears.org initiative was created to support the incredible work of Animals Asia in their mission to end this horrific practice. We launched the site in July 2017 to promote Animals Asia founder and CEO, Dr Jill Robinson’s 10000 Bears tour of Australian/ New Zealand in September.
This successful tour helped raise awareness and much needed funds to help Animals Asia continue caring for the hundreds of rescued bears in their bear rescue centres in China and Vietnam. The awareness raising continues, as we ask supporters to help us fold the bear bile industry by folding a paper bear for Animals Asia. In the first few months alone we received over 2,000 paper moon bears from supporters around Australia, so we are well on the way to our target of 10000 bears.
